Senior Software Engineer, Communications Platform (Backend focused)
GetYourGuide is looking for a backend-focused Senior Software Engineer for its Communications Platform team, part of the Central Services group in Berlin. The team develops and maintains GetYourGuide's centralized communication infrastructure, ensuring seamless delivery of transactional and non-transactional customer communications across email, push notifications, SMS, and emerging channels. You will work in a cross-functional mission team to design and develop efficient, scalable solutions and enable fast iteration and learning about customers.
Responsibilities
- ▹Work in a cross-functional mission team with engineers, product, and data
- ▹Continuously improve the code base, systems, and processes
- ▹Design and develop efficient solutions that can continue to scale
- ▹Enable the team to iterate fast and learn about customers by designing, launching, and iterating on experiments, internal solutions, and user capabilities
Requirements
- ▹6+ years of software development experience
- ▹High proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
- ▹Experience designing architecture and deployment of web applications and services
- ▹Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous messaging
- ▹Experience operating at scale, with CI/CD pipelines and a cloud DevOps/infrastructure mindset
- ▹Experience with stakeholder management, technical leadership, and cross-team collaboration
- ▹Ability to turn ideas into fast, reliable, and maintainable code
- ▹Hands-on experience leveraging and experimenting with AI
- ▹Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Nice to have
- ▹Experience developing internal SDKs and libraries with API documentation and developer tooling
- ▹Experience with communication platforms and services (Sendgrid, Twilio, Postmark, Braze)
- ▹Experience with GraphQL ecosystems
- ▹Experience with SLO/SLA management and platform reliability
- ▹Experience with security and scalability of asynchronous flows
- ▹Experience migrating a monolithic application to a services-oriented architecture
- ▹Prior experience in e-commerce and start-up environments
