Staff Applied AI Software Engineer (Python) - Patient (x/f/m)

Doctolib is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join its Patient domain, with the mission of transforming the Doctolib app into a full health companion powered by AI. The engineer will work in a feature team developing an AI-powered chat that answers patients' questions about their own or their loved ones' health with accuracy, empathy, and safety. The role focuses on designing, shipping, and operating production-grade agentic systems, ensuring privacy and security by design. The permanent, full-time position is based in Paris, France, with a tech stack centered on Python.

Responsibilities

  • Design, ship and operate production-grade agentic systems that answer key health challenges for patients
  • Partner with data scientists to design and implement evaluation pipelines, security/safety guardrails and metrics
  • Validate hypotheses quickly with offline evaluation datasets and A/B tests on real traffic
  • Develop and maintain core agentic capabilities including memory, reasoning orchestration and tool adapters, with strong observability and fail-safe behaviors
  • Own performance, observability and security, including monitoring dashboards, SLO/SLI and security posture
  • Ensure privacy and security by design
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that shape Doctolib's future AI platform and best practices

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a software engineer, with at least one significant experience using Python
  • Have gone through the full lifecycle of an AI product at scale, from initial evaluation and launch to iterations in production
  • Understand and promote software development lifecycle best practices such as automated testing, good use of CI/CD, and devops practices
  • Product-oriented and comfortable guiding teammates on tradeoffs balancing business needs with technical constraints
  • Comfortable speaking and writing in English in day-to-day work

Nice to have

  • Ability to adapt to the most efficient technologies to solve issues
  • Experience with agentic systems in production
  • Experience in the medical domain
