Engineering Manager - Cloud
Dataiku, the enterprise platform for AI, is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to build and guide a new squad within its Cloud Engineering team. Dataiku Cloud is a fully-managed offering that lets customers create, access, and monitor their Dataiku instances through a SaaS portal. The manager will lead a team of engineers while collaborating closely with SRE, Product, and Ops/Analytics to align technical decisions with business value, balancing hands-on technical contribution with team scalability.
Responsibilities
- ▹Lead and grow a new squad within the Cloud Engineering team
- ▹Focus on high-leverage technical work: architecture design, complex code reviews, paying down technical debt, and prototyping
- ▹Handle recruitment, onboarding, and career development, including performance reviews and growth plans
- ▹Maintain a presence in the codebase by working on non-critical-path features and chores
- ▹Collaborate with Product to translate roadmaps into features and drive an ambitious yet sustainable team velocity
- ▹Act as a key stakeholder in the Cloud organization, collaborating with SRE, Product, and other Engineering Managers to build the roadmap
Requirements
- ▹Good understanding of distributed systems (Python, Kubernetes, Vue.js)
- ▹Ability to break down product requirements into scalable technical plans
- ▹Experience guiding a team through complex architectural trade-offs
- ▹Proven experience mentoring engineers and giving constructive feedback
- ▹Ability to prioritize the team's collective success over individual contributions
- ▹Ability to navigate cross-team relationships to unblock the team
- ▹Ability to frame technical decisions in terms of business value
Nice to have
- ▹Familiarity with data platforms, since the role involves orchestrating Dataiku DSS instances
