Developer Support Engineer

As a Developer Support Engineer at Algolia, you are on the front lines, often the first team customers contact when they need help with the products. You assist technical users implementing Algolia across a variety of web and mobile development stacks, from solo developers to Fortune 500 companies. You partner with customer success, product, and engineering teams to solve difficult problems standing in the way of customer success.

Responsibilities

  • Handle technical requests via web and email support channels
  • Conduct professional, empathetic conversations to gather information, troubleshoot and resolve technical obstacles
  • Submit bug reports to the Engineering team for problems needing attention
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to develop subject matter expertise
  • Contribute to internal and external knowledge bases
  • Participate in internal projects to improve processes and tools

Requirements

  • Experience with web development, REST APIs, and database management
  • 2+ years of experience in technical customer support for SaaS enterprise software
  • Working knowledge of development languages such as JavaScript, Java, PHP, Swift, Ruby, Python
  • Ability to handle and prioritize a portfolio of tickets at various stages
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills
  • Ability to work in an on-call rotation

Nice to have

  • Basic familiarity with iOS and Android platforms
  • Experience supporting open-source projects and their GitHub communities
  • Experience with Shopify, Magento
