A Senior Java Software Engineer role within Bitpanda's Trade Hub, designing and scaling the core systems that power the trading ecosystem from pricing and execution to portfolio lifecycle and prime services. The engineer builds highly available, low-latency, financially critical back-end services handling order flow, market data, risk and balances. The role involves close collaboration with product, quantitative, risk and trading stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- ▹Design and develop scalable, resilient, message-driven services using Java
- ▹Write clean, future-proof code with 80% unit test coverage plus end-to-end and integration testing
- ▹Optimise payment modules/services for reliability, maintainability, performance and scalability
- ▹Drive innovation by researching and adopting the latest backend development trends and technologies
- ▹Mentor junior developers, providing guidance to help them grow
Requirements
- ▹Advanced experience in software development with modern frameworks such as Spring Boot and Java
- ▹Good understanding of relational and non-relational databases
- ▹Experience creating and maintaining publicly available REST APIs with performance and scalability focus
- ▹Practical knowledge of message-oriented middleware for event-driven microservices (ideally Kafka or ZeroMQ)
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with Postgres and MongoDB
- ▹Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes
- ▹Any public cloud experience
