A Senior Analytics Engineer role in N26's Analytics Engineering & Governance Enablement (AEGE) team, building the standards and tooling the broader analytics engineering community depends on. The position centers on owning the dbt services powering N26's core data warehouse and lakehouse, including CI/CD, data quality, and governance infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Own and evolve core dbt services - maintain CI/CD, drive performance, and enforce quality standards
  • ▹Be the engineering interface for the analytics engineering community, unblocking practitioners and improving shared patterns
  • ▹Improve data quality and governance infrastructure (anomaly detection, freshness monitoring, drift detection, data contract enforcement)
  • ▹Shape data governance practices around data ownership, data product thinking, and contract-first design
  • ▹Contribute to Python-based tooling: feature extensions, integrations, and observability utilities
  • ▹Collaborate with the data platform team on the direction of shared infrastructure

Requirements

  • ▹Strong problem-solving: scope problems quickly and find root causes
  • ▹Solid Python: typed, tested, maintainable code for shared tooling
  • ▹Strong SQL: read and reason about query plans and identify performance bottlenecks
  • ▹dbt at scale: macros, hooks, incremental models, project structure, CI/CD integration
  • ▹Track record of improving reliability, quality, or productivity in a data organisation
  • ▹Community and craft orientation: ability to influence without authority

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience with large, multi-team dbt projects and understanding their tradeoffs
  • ▹Ability to read an unfamiliar codebase and identify what is wrong or missing
